Ever SURFED in the wake of a speedboat?

WE HAVE!!!
Last Friday, Todd Gilbert (friend, fellow WSU runner) invited us and some other people to go up on Pine View to go boating. It was sooooo much fun. (an not even cold!) Todd goes all the time and is the wake-boarding, surfing pro... so we really appreciate all his patience in teaching us rookies the ropes. :)
One thing we did, that I had never even heard of, is surfing in the wake of the boat. I don't know who came up with this... but I'm glad they did. You weigh one side of the boat down with these compartments that hold water. (It looked like a giant bladder.) That creates a much bigger wake than you normally would have with a speedboat. You actually surf in the wake!!! On a short surfboard! You use a rope to pull yourself up... then once you get your balance... you let go of the rope and just surf!!! (A concept we didn't really get on our first outting... but we'll get it!)
It was the sweetest thing ever.
Take a look!!!

For only his second time on a boat EVER! I'd say he did pretty good!!!

I tried to get the whole... let go of the rope thing... apparently I didn't keep my weight far enough forward. Oh well... next time baby!!!
